The New Student GPS: A Digital Experience to Ease Transition
NODA Annual Conference 2019 - Houston, TX

With 100+ emails and several applications and websites one has to navigate and interact with prior to setting foot into a classroom, the time between acceptance and the first day of classes can be an overly stressful one for an incoming student. This interactive session will show all professionals one university’s solution and how their development process, from a simple idea through live release, can be used when leading the development or purchasing of new solutions in their own work.

SPRINT! Tackle Big Problems In A Week
IT Professionals Conference 2019 - Madison, WI

Big problems don’t have to be daunting. Use this process to pick apart, prototype, and test real solutions in a limited amount of time to inform projects that solve challenges for the University and our constituents.

This presentation will dive into how we’ve adapted the Google Ventures Design Sprint process to understand, diverge, converge, prototype, and test big problems in a short period of time. We’ll share two case studies, the benefits, and the lessons learned. And, you’ll have the chance to explore whether a design sprint might be right for you.

No (User) Experience Necessary: Digital Experiences by Non-Designers
NODA Region V Conference 2019 - Des Moines, IA

Orientation offices are often the source of one of the first digital experiences new students will have with a university. As Gen-Z enters their collegiate careers, more importance is being placed on this digital experience our students will encounter. This session will give new and seasoned professionals a look into how user experience designers think and give ways to help make better informed decisions when implementing new applications, homegrown or bought, into their work to fit their needs.
