About

Hi, I'm Chris.

Chris Diorio

I'm a product manager and technologist with a background in Human-Computer Interaction and UX Design. I've spent the last 7+ years at the University of Wisconsin–Madison building digital tools for one of the most important transitions in a young person's life — starting college.

I own the product roadmap for a portfolio of applications that serve 13,000+ students annually. I do the user research, run the stakeholder meetings, prioritize the backlog, and work shoulder to shoulder with developers to ship things that actually work.

My background in UX means I'm never satisfied with "technically it works." My background in QA means I'm never satisfied until I've tried to break it. And my background in theatre means I understand that the experience people have matters just as much as the function they're completing.

I'm genuinely excited about AI — not as a buzzword, but as a tool that, used thoughtfully, lets people do more of what they're actually good at. I advocate for it at work, build with it in my side projects, and think carefully about where the human needs to stay in the loop.

Outside of work: I direct and stage manage at Bartell Theater in Madison, DM multiple D&D campaigns, and am deeply embedded in several communities I care about — including the LGBTQ leather community, the furry fandom, and NODA, where I've served in regional leadership and presented at national conferences.

My motto: build with your users, not just for them.
